Those bloody crustaceans!

Sep 08, 2008 17:16

Here in Sweden we have an unholy tradition of eating crustaceans around this time of year. We get together in strangely mixed groups of friends and friends friends and family to consume as many of these little red, spidery things as we possibly can. That in itself isn't so bad (even if you cut your fingers on the shells), but it usually involve a lot of singing, and you can't sing if you don't drink. At least that's the assumption.

So we went to one of these parties (kräftskiva), and we sang silly songs, and we got more to drink than was necessarily good for us.

Sunday morning came and went without us taking any notice. Sunday evening was spent in Arkham and not until today did we feel like ourselves again.

As always I draw the conclusion that the crustaceans are out to get me. I'm staying away from them next year. (I say that every year)

The workday has been eventful. A bus drove into the awning over our windows and then drove away. So, I've spent a lot of time on the phone talking to the bus company, the police and trying to figure out where to send the bill for the repairs.

The evening will contain Poirot, writing and maybe cake. Quite certainly cake.

holiday celebration, store life
