So...school starts tomorrow. I am mostly excited and a wee bit nervous right now, but I'm sure that will change by tomorrow morning! I have spent the past week and half getting my classroom ready. To keep it brief, just know that there are polka dots on my bulletin boards and lots of monkeys all around (think Curious George). So far, so good, although I have a feeling that my Wesleyan educated self is going to make a few waves as I set about teaching the way I've been taught how to teach-not a bad thing! I met some of my kids and parents at Open House on Friday; overall I got a very positive vibe from them and I'm excited about getting to know these kids.
What else...I just moved into a new apartment this weekend. It is super cute, or at least it will be when I am done decorating, which will probably be around Christmas at the rate I am going. There is a nice pool and a fitness room (which I have yet to visit, but plan to sometime this week)-overall, I am really happy with it. I can hear the trains at night and lots of crickets-it is a million times quieter than living at Wesleyan. And not quite as expensive, either, although I'm not sure I'm crazy about all of these bills that are now in my name. I think I'm going to like living by myself, at least until I get a permanent roommate next summer (wink, wink!). Plus, it's right off of the interstate so I can still get to work in under 20 minutes even though I'm living on a different side of town.
That's really about it...being a grown-up is not terribly exciting,it turns out!
