It's too bloody hot
I am so hot. It's 95 degrees here (shut up Texans) and will go up to 103 on Wed. And here I am in my full hose and my black skirt suit, in a building that is only moderately cooler than outdoors. I've been running back and forth between our building and the other court building across the street all afternoon, although at least thank god no one has asked me to go up to district court (about 4 blocks away). Also the floor fan that is my main source of air circulation has been requisitioned for a meeting in the conference room, which is also where they keep the water cooler. Fortunately other departments are not so silly, and I drank a bunch of water down in the front office. Whew.
90 more minutes till I can go home and take a cold shower and see my kitties. :D (Also, someone in the office sent an e-mail offering a 9-week-old tuxedo kitty. Soooo tempted, but I know better. I do not need more cats. But I think if I don't maintain vigilance throughout my life, I am going to stop using my common sense and I will end up with 73 cats.) I'm glad I bought fruit the other day. This is a good type of weather for cold fruit. :D It's too darn hot to cook, I tell ya; maybe I'll live on cold ham sandwiches and fruit for the rest of August.
