Happiness Meme, Day 4

Day 4:

Everything was bristling with frost this morning. As we drove Willow to school, we marveled at the trees, every tiny twig furred with white. The fog parted as we drove, revealing groves of ash with their delicate branches decked in the ghost of spring leaves. The evergreens resembled some huge alien flower. We gaped and exclaimed in awe.
As the morning progressed, the frost began to melt, and I frowned in disappointment, though I knew it couldn't last. By 10:30, only the west side of everything was still heavily frosted. I discovered the magic of walking south to north past the tree in our courtyard, watching the branches transform to crystal as I came to its western face. The beauty and magic of nature are truly awesome.

And to think... if I didn't have children... would I have witnessed any of this marvel? Or would I have slept right through it? I would have no reason to go traipsing 8 miles down the road at 8 am to witness the world decked in frost, the fog making everything all the more ethereal. Would I have even appreciated it?
