Phoenix.

So...in a surprise move, my part time job got canceled tonight, so Jonathan and I joined Matt, Elana, and many of her family seeing Order of Phoenix this evening. Yes, I know I should be packing, but I couldn't resist coming online to post briefly about...well...

WARNING, SPOILERS: ( The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. )

Very well said! I had similar problems with the movie myself. High expectations of 'Deathly Hallows' though! :)

Why thank you dahling! There is lots more I wanted to say but sleep called. I feel like I have a bad taste in my mouth which I'm sure will be alleviated by reading book 6 this weekend, and then Deathly Hallows!!! Rowling hasn't let us down yet :)

I'm actually surprised you have such a bad taste in your mouth -- I loved it, and thought it easily the best of the films so far. I have to be honest; Rowling has let me down more than the movies have ... but that's a post for another time.

One thing we do have in common is that Sirius is our favorite character (second fave for me is Firenze), and I absolutely ADORED the "James" line, for all the reasons _ravengirl highlights below and in the linked post.

I like the line, I just wish it could have been expressed at a time other than when he was dying for Harry's sake.

While I mostly agree (although mostly with the good points, I actually loved pretty much the entire movie), I have to link you to an entry that explains very well why "Nice one, James" is SUCH an amazing line and that I actually seriously adored.

Actually I'll post that part here and if you're interested you can go here and read the rest ( ... )

I do agree with all those points and it does wonderfully sum up everything but my empathy for Harry makes me wish that it could have been expressed at another time as opposed it being Sirius' very last words to him. I guess I'm so invested and apprehensive for what's coming in Book 7 that I just wanted to Harry to be able to take refuge -that he's never gotten in his life - in the memory of that relationship, and it might be rather marred now from those last words.

Well I suppose I was being melodramatic, and there were things that I did love about it, as I posted. I explained it a bit more up there to ravengirl.

Generally, I agree with everything you said here (especially Luna. LOVED Luna). I also really liked the effect of the Death Eaters removing their masks not by taking them off, but by disapparating them.

About the "nice one" line, though - it wasn't entirely out of the blue. Hadn't people chastised Sirius before for treating Harry like he was James (Molly for sure and I think maybe Remus, as well)? Or was it just that you didn't like what it said about Sirius' and Harry's relationship?

No it wasn't out of the blue - I do like the line because it sums up everything so nicely...but I just wish it wasn't placed where it was when it's the last thing Harry will be left with.
