I am absolutely thrilled with the outcome of this election. I have a strong feeling that Obama may end up being one of our best presidents ever. For starters, he's at least 100 times more inspirational than Bush....who can't get out of Washington fast enough to suit me.

I totally agree with all you've said! The last eight years have been so awful, with some very painful elections, but even before that I can't really remember being *inspired* by any politician in -- I don't know how long, really. I read some bit of wishful thinking a couple weeks ago that the inauguration should be moved to, oh, about November 5...would have been fine with me. I'm still worried about what the incumbents might do before they have to get outta Dodge. Although it looks like Obama is already planning to start fixing things as soon as he can. Yay !!

Saw this at Huffington Post this morning:

Obama will automatically be a good president not because he's the first black man to be elected, or because he's a Democrat, but because he is an actual, evolved, progressive, intelligent American.

Absolutely.

Happy Monday to you ! [wish I could get on LJ more often, hard to believe it's been almost a week since the world changed...]

What an amazing night it was - I cried most of the night (but tears of joy for a change) and am still really emotional about it today. I haven't been inspired by a politician in such a LOOOOOONG time - and it feels wonderful to be inspired again!!

I taped the Daily Show and will watch it (more like savor it) this weekend. I couldn't tear myself away from Keith O. and Rachael last night!!

WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!

It *was* an amazing, incredible night. Plenty of tears from me too, plus various moments since of just remembering what's happened, of *realizing* it, and then -- big happy grins. This has just been the longest eight years in *history*. And I totally agree, inspiration is a beautiful thing to feel again.

Hope you've gotten to see(/savor) the Daily Show tape by now. They ran the show a few extra minutes (must have known what was coming), so Jon got to say The Words "At 11 pm Eastern Time, Barack Obama is the President-Elect of the United States". (That's from memory...I really should memorize his official words. :-) ) I would *love* to have seen Keith and Rachel at the same moment, of course. Need more TVs! :-)

Happy Monday! [wish I could get on LJ more often, hard to believe it's been almost a week since the world changed...]
