Ok, so I've finally figured out what I want my tattoo(s) to be. Two of them actually, though I'll probably wait to get one of them. This is really exciting me, because I've wanted to get a tattoo for a while, and I had an idea of what I wanted (something in cuneiform) but I didn't know exactly what. And now I do.
The beauty of cuneiform (for those of you who don't know and would like to) is that one symbol can represent many things. I've chosen just one symbol (rather than try to create something complex and run the risk of screwing it up and living with it forever) which means "life" "vigor" "good health" "to stay alive" " healthy" "safe and sound", and other things. So this is good, because life is important to me. But it also means "to accept", and that - I think - is a good thing to have tattooed on my body. A constant reminder to accept the past, and move on. If I can make the future better, fine. But no more dwelling on the past. It's going to be on my left hand, where my thumb and forefinger "meet".
As for tattoo number two, I've decided to write "not all those who wander are lost" in Quenya (elvish language, courtesy of my idol, Mr. Tolkien) on my right wrist. Since I intend to do a fair bit of "wandering" (or travelling, as normal people might call it) throughout my life, I think the sentiment fits. I'm going to try to get my parents to buy me this one for christmas, since it's larger (and thus more expensive) and also because I think it's just the better one to ask them to buy me. The whole "I've always got a home with them" sentiment, etc (even though I won't actually live in that home once I move out - at least, I plan not to, lol).
So that's all I have to say really. I just wanted to share because I'm excited about it. I'll see how much they'll cost when Chloë and I go downtown to get her tattoo next week. Excitement!
kisses and lollipops,
-Lynsey
EDIT: Yes, I realize I'm a huge fucking nerd.
