touch me till I follow in love...

I'm at home now, and with nothing else to do I'm still managing to avoid writing that final essay. Last one - on how the preterite-present verbs became the modal auxiliaries (like how 'will' used to mean 'wish' but somehow became a marker of futurity). Yea, it's as dry as it sounds. But it's interesting as well, if you're a language dork. Let's not talk about it anymore.

I'm back at home because I wanted to see some people in the 'wick (AMY TONIGHT!), and we have to pick up the 'rents from the airport tomorrow. That should be fun - lots of pictures and SWAG! I'm still a little bit upset that they went to Italy without me, sigh, but as I said to Andrea: when it's a twenty fifth wedding anniversary, I don't think I want to be around to know what they get up to.

In related news, my parents have been married for half of their lives. That's just sweet. Sometimes the world tries to tell me to forget about love, because it's just a pretty lie. But my parents taught me to tie my shoes and cross the street and so far I'm doing alright on those counts so I'll probably listen to what they have to say about love, as well. Love them :)

In more related news, my sister and brother live in a total STY when my parents aren't around. I'm totally disgusted by the state of the house. Almost disgusted enough to clean, except I can just shut myself in my room and forget about it whilst pretending to write my essay. But they have take-out containers and empty cereal boxes and dirty dishes just sitting all over the kitchen - and dammit, they have a dishwasher! There is no excuse for dirty dishes! Once more, I let the internet know that I am a messy person, but I am clean - and possibly the least messy and most clean of the O'Donnell siblings. This should let you know exactly how disgusting my siblings can get. I sort of feel bad for my mom, who is obviously the one who cleans this shit because I now know Christa and Nick don't. Ugh.

Christa and I walked in, though, and the boys were chilling in the basement so they came upstairs, and Christa said James and Graham were feeling left out cause I always gave Justin a hug but never them lol, so they demanded hugs. I thought it was cute. I basically love those kids. And apparently they were joking about something about Jeremy being at someone else's house (Burke? I dunno, started with a B, so let's just go with B) and asking if his sister was showering, and B just kicked him right out of the house, and Christa mentioned something about Nick doing the same thing and Nick said "yea I'd knock him out". I'm not sure how he's going to react if Joe manages to get his butt up here for my birthday hahaha. I think he'll be cool.

I just want it to be my birthday already. I want an excuse to get dolled up (yup, I did use that expression) and go out. I'm so bored of my apartment and my computer screen and all these damned essays. I feel like I'm doing nothing with my life (even though apparently getting a good education is the only way to do something with your life). I really need a job to just get me up in the morning. I've been having trouble sleeping and I know it's because of my self-imposed imprisonment. So hopefully after I get this last one in I can really get on that.

And Sarah (the new roommate, not to be confused with the previous roommate Sarah) moved all her stuff in last night. I'm really looking forward to having her around this summer - should make me not so tense about having Matt around. And I know for a fact we both love languages so at least we'll have something in common haha. So that should be good. I believe she'll be moving in proper on Tuesday, so I just have to give her keys and we can all be happy about life :). Yesssss.

Ok, I need to actually work on this essay now. I just hope I can get enough information out of it to get the required page amount (Mary Catherine's totally chill, which is a relief, so it only needs to be 5 or 6 pages, but not a lot of people focus on the specific verbs I'm looking at - they're more interested with explaining why all of our legal terms are French-Latinate and our core vocabulary is still English. Dammit).

peace out
-Lyns
