"I have something I want to give to you, so I'll be waiting by the entrance"
After the lesson, I mailed that to Tedzuka Mai. She's in the cheerleading club, so she usually goes home around that time. Today is a late day for me as well because of band practice, so it's just right. In the break time, when I went out on the veranda from the music room, the cheerleading club was practicing on the ground beyond the railing. In this cold, she and her comrades dance to songs with a good tempo, and raise their voices. With her beautiful bleached long hair on one side, she moved her body big and smiled. (She looks like having fun even though it's practise
"The uniform is cute, but the things we do are quite sports-oriented and hard" She said. But I have a feeling it fits her personality to cheer for someone with all her might. We're both second year students. Our classes are different, but just about a year ago, on a certain occasion we started to talk. After that, we're quite close... I think. When I leaned agains the railing and looked down at the ground, I heard the glass door open and Shori's voice from behind. "A, you're here. Fuma-kun... is it good for vocals to cool down their throat?" While saying that with a know-it-all-atmosphere, he comes closer and stands beside me
When I looked after *cut off part* I got to know him, an average student. After that, he used to come look at band practises all the time. "I heard a christmas live is settled. I just got tickets from Kento". Fluttering with the tickets, Shori leans on the rail and looks down. There, Mai is jumping around and waves at me. The moment I wave back, as she went backwards she staggerd and clinged onto one of her comrades who was laying down. "Not cool! To fall." As I spurt that out to her appearance, Shori says beside me: "To the live, you'll invite Mai-san too, right?". "Yes". When I tell him about the mail I sent earlier, Shori said "You should confess as soon as possible" mysteriously. "I'm thinking about it". "What is it you're thinking about?". "Secret". It was embarassing talking about it with a serious look, so I glossed over it with laugh
When I came to the entrance at 5, she wasn't there yet. Standing and leaning on the entrance and exit, in front of me *cut off part*
Even after 10 minutes had passed she didn't come. (She probably has some reasons). She isn't the kind of person who stands up things like this without saying anything. "Cold..." My breath was white. I covered my mouth with my muffler. At 5:30, I start to think it's weird. (...Should I go watch?). After hesitating a bit I left the entrance, and when I came to the clubhouse, the cheerleading club room's lights were off. (What, there's nobody here--). I was perplexed at that time. My ringtone's ringing. It's Shori. "Did you meet Mai-san?" When I answer the phone, Shori is *cut off part*
"Not yet". "It seems she forgot her phone at home today. She hasn't read your mail!". "Huh!?". " When I saw her just now at the station, I thought it was weird so I told her about the mail, and she hurried back to school". "I see. Thank you!". I turned off the phone and hurried to the entrance. But after all she wasn't there. When I asked someone who was chatting nearby whether a girl has returned to the school gate, they said "There was someone, but she went somewhere". "Why". I sigh loudly and moan. While catching my breath, *cut off part
Just about one year back from today, we rented/borrowed a shop and had our first real live since forming. But the result was scattered. The people who came watching were only people we knew, so there wasn't anyone who criticised us though. I disliked the me who couldn't sing well. At that that, after I had parted with the members, I was feeling depressed at the station, and by chance, Mai turned up. Invited by a friend she watched *cut off part*
She was normally consoling me, but as I didn't rise to the surface, she got mad at me. "If there's time to be depressed, I would practise though!" I was surprised because even though she's cute and fashionable, she said straight-laced words. "In one years time, do what you can every day. If you still don't get better, I will comfort you until you feel better. Pitiful *cut off part
The end she said like a consultation, and laughed with an echoing bright voice. That is the story about a year before today. Those words became a load on my chest because of the fact that she actually is a girl who does that. Because she showed me how she works hard in the cheerleading club, and her smile from the heart. So I've also been working hard from muscle training this year. I've done all I can to get better. Then, on the culture festival live a month ago, the reaction from the audience was really good. I was happy about that. (So today I wanted to give her the ticket...). But the surroundings gradually gets darker. I wonder where she went. In outline, I returned to the ground and look up at the school building to see if any classrooms still have the lights on. Several have. "okay". After breathing in a lot of air, I yell loudly with all my might: "Mai! Where are you--!?". Because of the voice training I've done for a year, my voice was echoing across the campus. Here and there people peep out from the windows with the lights on. Among those. "Fuma!?" From my classroom on the second floor, she ran out on the veranda. When she leaned forward over the railing it was in a manner that I could understand that she had hurriedly rushed out. *cut off part*
The beautiful hair was crumpled. "I'm sorry Fuma! I made you wait!" To her that was desperately saying sorry, I took out the just made ticket from my pocket and showed it. "In christmas, we'll do a live!". "Eh?". "I've done as Mai told me to do and practised singing everyday. This live will probably be the best one so far... so I want you to come.". When I put forth the ticket and said that, for a while she was blank. But after a while she said "What, so that was what it all was about" loudly and laughed. "Off course I'll go!". Because of the smile that became visible from the railing, my chest gradually got warm. "Wait a bit. I'll come down now!". After saying that, I see her go into the school building, and I start to walk towards the entrance as well. I grasped the ticket tightly inside my pocket. In that live, it's decided that I will sing. In this year, a song that has all the time become softer. A song that's stuffed with feelings I want to tell. The first love song I've made since I was born. For her
