I also trimmed the cedar hedge in the back yard but in all fairness, that was a thirty minute job so no big deal. I cut the grass and whipper snipped the edges and futzed around with a small garden in the front yard, and dismantled and rebuilt a second circular rock garden.
I'm sure there are other things I left out, oh, like watering everything with the hose set on shower twice a day (can't use a sprinkler yet) so as not to create puddles or else all the seed I sowed won't grow.
I'm feeling it all right, but it's a good kind of soreness and fatigue because the results are so stunning to me, and I am beyond content spending a lot of time at the end of the day lounging on an Adirondak chair in complete and utter privacy, looking at lush beautiful things growing which I am responsible for, in part.
I have always had an interest in gardening, but never in my life have I put this much time day after day into the yard. I lost my enjoyment along the way somehow, but boy has it ever come back.
I would say that I did all this for about a hundred dollars all told, so I can't even make the excuse that for quite a few years, the budget hasn't allowed for extensive garden renovation.
I'm just a bit worried that I'm going to lose interest half way through July when the dog days of summer hit and I'll become neglectful.
It's incredible what the sun has done to elevate my mood, too.
