oh man...so we were gonna travel far to go out last night for an all nighter, but between the weather and our general state of crispiness, we decided to stay close by and check out a place we heard was really drawing quite a crowd on the weekends...a local restaurant called the "Black Bull' opened about a year or so ago - I immeadiatly targeted the place as a good for my kind of loungy sound, but they had other ideas.....

The food there is fantastic - the steaks, burgers, seafood all are very accomplished and worthy of the best in the city - they started moving all the dinner tables back, and had a dj set up on the side. When we walked in, the music was pleasant...nice dance floor fodder 80's stuff and disco, current club fare, etc....good ok, i could tell there were a lot of new releases scattered about. But, after a very pleasant half hour of that (as I was realllly enjoying my mandarin orange infusion martini), the music changed - to hip hop. ok, we thought, he'll play a little, then go back and forth..we can go with that. But no, hip hop is was to stay as the place packed up with a multitute of white folk from the surrounding affluent areas. And he didn't even play the whole track, suddenly cutting over to something else....and scratching...scratching with cd's...there must be a way that that should sound better, or maybe not. So we paid our check, scedadeled, went home and watched 'Sid & Nancy" hahahaa!

I'll go back anytime to eat, and thier bar rocks....I heard Saturday nights has Jazz...yeah, that'll be good :)

So today, I'm checking out some new tunes, and struck by how happy and uplifting they feel...comapared to the drag down thuggy feel of hip hop - so, why are they playing it? If the girls would say, we want some proper dance music, then, it would change...because the boys go where the girls are...argh. so much wonderful music to make you laugh, smile, grrove, funk, and have a night too, and it totally passes them by........Rob said that it doesn't matter to them, they just don't care about the music...it's just a place that lets them all gather and mingle and drink....whatever...

btw - we saw NO ONE dancing or even grooving to the music...guess it's too much work.
