... one thing only: no smoked glass, not even for an instant. It's not at all safe. Here are safe methods: a pinhole projector would not be hard to make out of thin leather or painted sail-canvas.
Thank you, I'm pleased you enjoyed this. They did use smoked glass for viewing eclipses in the 1920's as my Mum told me she was told to take some to school!We know now that it wouldn't offer protection so I'll put a note when I post elsewhere.
