If Perl is a write-only language, then Python is a read-only one. At least, that's how it is for me now.
I think, books on regular expressions and Perl should be marked 'adults only'. To make sure kids won't grow up believing that 'executable line noise' is a synonym for 'fun, flexible and forceful', and won't feel so cheated working with Python and the like...
