Thanksgiving

Things went pretty well yesterday (Thanksgiving), though people came about 15 minutes before I was ready for them. The food all came out delicious, and there were no crises. Rick behaved himself nicely, and even toddled off to take a nap after lunch, so the adults got to sit around and chat. It was a nice day all around, but I was very tired after it all ended.

Today, I got to stay in bed until 8! It's been a looong time since I was able to do that. After a fairly leisurely morning, I decided to go shopping (something I might have skipped if I'd heard about this and this). I've never participated in Black Friday shopping before, but thought I'd be okay since I just wanted to go to Jo-Ann's (nowhere near a mall or big store) to get some fabric. Ha! When I walked in, the checkout line was at least 50 feet long. At the cutting table, they have a take-a-number system; when I got my number, they were helping #75 - I had #119. Many, many of the women there had carts FULL of bolts of fabric. Some had 20 or 30 bolts of fabric that needed to be cut. It took me about 10 minutes to choose my fabric, and about an hour to get it cut. I ended up with some raspberry red fabric for a blouse for me and some oatmeal colored shirting for a dress shirt for John.

This evening, the three of us went to Jane's for dinner and the Trimming of the Tree. Tomorrow we're going to go to a potluck at the community garden at which my father-in-law gardens. My guys also need haircuts, and I need to go grocery shopping.

Good things, all, but I'm glad that Sunday is going to be just a normal Sunday.
