We're having a heatwave a tropical heatwave

The first week in June was positively March like in my part of the UK but Flaming June made it's appearance the second week and it's still here. It gets very hot very early so the girls and I have taken to going walkies in the cool of the evening, somewhere where there is shade and streams. This evening we walked the entrance road from the main road to the inner carpark. The car gate at the main road is closed at 18:00 leaving a small gate dogs and people can get through. There are also three streams running down the mountain and under the road. Two of them are nice clean streams forming nice clean pools before disappearing under the road, the third, for reasons beyond my ken, probably to do with the geology, has a very muddy bottom to it's pool. Can you guess which one the girls decided to paddle in and drink. Saffron just stood on the edge and sipped , Kandi waded in up to her belly and promptly sank up to her knees in the mud and clambered out black to her mid body in literally stinking mud. Luckily the walk is above the river and there is a way down to it from there. So our walk took longer than anticipated and included me clambering through a fence because Kandi did not understand why I wanted her to go down into the river, she wasn't thirsty so why should she get into the river. She did get the idea when I was stood in the edge and and called her. The back of the car is damp but not stinking. There are times I wonder if she has a brain in her little fluffy head and others when I think she does deliberately just to wind me up, tonight I decided it was a wind up.

dogs, walkies.
