old tales

- i bought some new books <3  one of them was  "marked: house of night". what a lot of rubbish! i honestly haven't read a book that badly written in ages.  and it's not just the writing.. the plot itself seriously had me going "wtf?" a few times

i was fine with humans knowing about vampires and when zoey got marked i was really curious about this vampire school (the thing that made me buy the book in the first place) .. but then there was this stuff about her having native american blood and being able to conjure the elements...  and although that is all fine and interesting by itself  i do not understand why they had to mix that in with the vampire stuff!!!!!!

it would've been a fine story if it had been about some school for children with special abilities or something like that. or a book about her having native american blood and how that makes her be in contact with nature, etc...!
all this talk about a vampire godess .. *rolleyes* (i actually did that a few times) and all the native american stuff...  i do not see how that makes for a good mixture.   it's not that plausible and too.. esoteric-y at times. (for a vampire story!)

also, the characters...i don't know..  none of them really won my heart.   and zoey, the main character: i cannot imagine her being an american school girl that is friends with someone like her best friend and going out with the quaterback.  she doesn't like barbie type of girls. she doesn't like gothics, she likes "star trek", "star wars" and indiana jones", which , apparently, is a crime/veeeery uncool......    it just doesn't fit together for me somehow...

oh and i know they deliberately wanted to sound like teenagers... but i think it was a bit over the top at some points....*shrugs*

meh, i can't think of anything else right now.......i just wanted to write about it because i felt so frustrated after reading the book.

*sigh*, i'd love to read a book about a vampire school though! (like harry potter.. just with vampires!!!)

but now lets talk about the other books i bought

- lovely bones - alice sebolt: i want to read it before i watch the movie and it sounds really interesting.

- disturbances of the mind - douwe draaisma: it's about stuff like aspergers, parkinson, alzheimers, etc ! (german)

- no angel: my undercover journey to the heart of the hells angels - jay dobyns: awesome book! especially interesting if you've a few "connections" to the scene but also a great read if you've nothing to do with it.

books that are available in german only :/

- vertrau mir blind - nicolet steemers: it was an ok read (i read it in about 4 hours) but right from the tsrat i knew what would happen because it was way too obvious.

- die sehnsucht der atome - linus reichlin: haven't read it yet. it's a crime novel whose chief inspector likes quantum physics. *g* just had to buy it!

- saphierblau - kerstin gier: it's the second novel of the "liebe geht durch alle zeiten"-series. it's quite entertaining/a fun read.

- kapitän nemos bibliothek - per olov enquist: it's about two boys who have been switched when they were born.

- they mentioned "godwin's law" on qi!  XD    (they also mentioned many things i'd never heard of.. things they claimed are common in germany.. Oo  well, i know of no one who ever hired a naked student to clean their flat *g*)

- oh, i was so happy that summer wasn't the mother :P

- off to uni...

tv: qi, books, tv: himym
