There is an article on Yahoo! News about the translation (or more accurately, transliteration) of politicians' names to Chinese characters. Interesting in itself, but easily my favorite part of the article was:
But perhaps the most perplexing translation would be for Boston Mayor Thomas Menino's name, which could be read as "Sun Moon Rainbow Farmer" or "Imbecile," or "Barbarian Mud No Mind of His Own."
Actually, no, there's nothing perplexing about those last two at all. Just highly accurate.
