Happy Fun Post

I have mono. Blargh.

Sucks, but I'm totally looking on the bright side. It couldn't have come at a better time - classes are over, band/other obligations are over, and just over a week till the semester is over. Which means that all my obligations are cancelled (except work, which doesn't take much energy and will be a nice change of scenery) and I can just lay in my room alternately sleeping, writing papers, and studying. And then I'll go home and rest even more, and hopefully feel better by the holidays. I've probably already had it for a couple weeks before being diagnosed, so I'm not anticipating it being terribly drawn-out. I think the worst is over - I was totally miserable from the pain in my tonsils Sunday night, and then after passing out Monday morning spent the day in the infirmary - and now I don't feel too bad at all. So honestly, if I'm going to get it once in my life, I seem to have gotten a pretty mild case - consider me lucky!

The other nice thing is that "I have mono" is a totally legitimate excuse for ANYTHING. I'm hoping to finish everything in time because I just want this crazy semester to be over, but if it really becomes necessary I'm sure professors would give me extensions. Similarly, all my friends have been incredibly sweet and supportive, bringing me stuff whenever I need it. Even though it'll be nice to be home getting some motherly love and attention, I'm really appreciative of the fact that I feel completely taken care of here.

In other news, I noticed today when I was writing all my recent clothing (new jeans, greatly needed!) purchases in my checkbook, that the code for paying by debit card - "DBT" - looks an awful lot like "DEBT." Hah.

My tonsils look so disgusting, to the point where the part of my left tonsil that's visible is only like at a third of its total volume. Ugh ugh ugh. If they don't shrink down after this, they'll probably be removed. Which will be a nasty and painful operation, but positive in the long run (fewer infections AND less snoring!), so whatever happens, I'll try not to complain too much. I'll just eat more ice cream, which has never really been a problem.
