Asylum of the Daleks/Dinosaurs on a Spaceship

Bit of advice: skip Asylum of the Daleks if you haven't seen it, you'll be much happier this way.

I've decided to gripe about the first episode of the new series of Doctor Who on LJ, because 1) I'm behind the times and 2)I can.
I had a lot of issues with it. Starting with the Amy/Rory dynamic and plot arc - seriously Rory, way to be a Nice Guy - and going on to the things that don't make sense, like Oswin's magical voice changing abilities, and the fact that she could unlock doors. With her mind.

But my biggest problem is that Steven Moffat isn't satisfied with writing Doctor Who. He has to put his own spin on everything.  There had to be 10 billion Daleks that apparently survived, that the Doctor apparently knew about, and he had to have a new nickname, and the font of the opening sequence had to be changed. Just. Why? If I had a chance to tell Moffat and the staff of Tumblr one thing, it'd be this: If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

It was just a very disappointing beginning to the season.

Dinosaurs on a Spaceship, however, was everything I needed: fun, dinosaurs, Bamf Amy, amazing guest stars, the works. I've got some concerns re: the Doctor's decision about leaving Filch to be blown up, as well as the rampant innuendo (it's a children's show guys. Please.) but at the end of the day, I think about Rory's Dad and robots voiced by Mitchell and Webb, and I'm happy.
