I need to get up in three hours to go to the school and edit, so in all sane worlds I should be sleeping. . . but instead I'm updating my iPod's firmware and adding my Sigur Rós library to it. I'll need some music to listen to while I sit at the computer all day tomorrow. I was exhausted today, too, but then when it comes time to sleep I can't. Oh well, it's been like that my whole life. By "it" I mean me?
I'm actually really excited about the project we're working on right now. It's based around a campaign that our college began two year ago about respecting everyone, no matter what. . . We have some strong interviews already with people like the President of the college, the student counselor and various members of the student council. Tomorrow we have one last interview with the guy who pretty much runs the campaign, and then we need to shoot some b-roll of students in halls, eating lunch etc. in the hour that Jeremy has between his classes to teach. During that time I will be editing, and hopefully we will have it done by 4:00 on Saturday! We have until Monday, but there is a shag (our name for a "Stag & Doe" party in Northern Ontario, don't think inappropriate things) on Saturday night and I'd really like it to be a celebratory drunken one.
With the help of Motion I have already designed the lower thirds and beginning titles. Exporting those with different names will take no time at all, but I do have to work on the end credits and finding music. In any case, that's one of the LAST things to do, then you can tweak the cuts to the music a bit.
Today we went in at 8:00 and worked pretty much non stop on it until 4:00 this evening. We began with just the dumped footage, but it actually looks like something now. Jeremy made a hard copy of what he thought the layout of the video should be, so it's more or less set, I just have quite a bit of sound mixing to do tomorrow if I can figure out the proper way to make a noise print. Also a bit of colour timing because I didn't light the interviews consistently at all, and now I'm kicking myself for it. We shot the president on Valentine's day so she wore a bright red jacket and we were shooting with DV! It bled like crazy, but after a bit of colour timing it looks decent.
I think we can have it done by Saturday, no problemo.
Off to bed/more CD importing I go. I'm in the process of picking and choosing only a few of the 2000 picture on my computer for my iPod, too. Cheers!
*Do you think the US government will hack my LJ for this phrase? I mean we shot her interview!
