You just got mugged!

I'd like to start off my admitting to you all that I am the worst LiveJournaler in the history of LiveJournal, if not internationally then at least locally or within a 500 metre radius of my house. There, I said it.

It's been a busy time! I've finished shooting my film and am 30% done the rough picture edit. Other school projects are keeping me busy, too. And work only twice a week, but somehow it still seems like a lot.

I've been trying to keep up with my FL, but I just got back from a week in Winnipeg on Monday so that threw me off my game a bit. But oh God was it ever fun! Initially our class went to see the NSI Film Exchange, but it turned out that it wasn't really what we aspired to do or be -- and a few of the panels were just plugs for the speakers movies as opposed to learning experiences. Or so I heard. I went to one panel on the first day, and they the other days I was dead tired and slept in a bit so I missed them. It wasn't the best thing to do, but I still did some meet and greets at the Galas and I went on tours of the film companies in Winnipeg, which I thought was more important. Everything I heard about the panels we had already learned in one of Lee's classes anyways.

So NSI was a bit of a let down, but there were still fun little moments like the Sofa Party where really rough filmmakers showed their art films in a hotel room at the Fort Gary. Plus, more than five of my classmates were perpetually drunk. Not me though, I barely drank at all. I think three nights out of six?

The first night us girls were dead tired from the 9 hour bus ride so we conked out around 10:30 while the guys went out.

The next night Jennifer and I wrote out invitations in Eric & Jeremy's room whilst I drank some Sour Puss and a McEwan's (which I bought from Liquor Mart for the name alone. Bryan referred to it as 'drinking some Obi'.) It was 7% malt beer, so after one I was done and ended up giving one to Lee and leaving the rest in Eric's fridge for the rest of the trip. He gave it back to me at weeks end, though I didn't really want it so it's Greg's now. After invitations Jennifer went to bed so her and her polliwog could get some rest, whilst we visited Bryan's room to play GUITAR HERO II! I didn't actually play, I just enjoy yelling GUITAR HERO!

During the day on the third day Jeremy, Kyle and I went to a mall that had fireplaces. Huge fireplaces. In the mall. That night was an NSI party at the Salisbury House followed by the Sofa Party at the Fort Gary. That was all kinds of fun, and the beer was from a local Brewery and free. I'm not an alcoholic or anything but free beer? I will take what I can get (that DOES sound alcoholic). I only had about 3 cups, but that was plenty for me. So basically the sofa party was a bunch of people sitting around in a dark room watching very arty films. Overexposed, out of focus, random clips filmed using a Bolex and cut together on an old Steenbeck. It was very much Mark Cohen type things, which were neat to watch but in the end rather pointless. Still, great fun!

All day on day four I was sick. I started once I got out of the shower so I'm thinking the heat triggered it, so I spent all day sleeping on the couch until night came, when I went downstairs to watch a few of our student films from last semester. Then back up to my room I went.

Friday I didn't drink anything because of being sick the day before, so i didn't feel like it. Still, we just hung out and watched TV so that was fun. During the day Eric, Jeremy and I went one of the malls and I ate the greasiest Taco Time I've ever had in my life. But i also bought David Bowie's 'Earthling' so it evened out. Then they proceeded to prank call every students hotel room with sound FX from Juicer. Ours was on our answering machine and was a man yelling "I will cut you!"

Finally, Saturday night was the closing party at the Fort Gary where we went, Derek and I did the robot, and drank some Rye & Gingers. I wanted my good old whiskey sour, but at a fancy hotel like the Fort they had no lemon juice. . . We dropped some limes on the floor, Lee and I ruined the background of a new interview, and Don was smashed and asked if my head was alright. Afterwards we went back to the hotel early and once again hung out in the rooms being loud (yet only having one noise complaint. . . on a day when only Eric and Bryan were talking!) and excited/sad that he trip was ending.

Sunday we got on the bus at 11:00, had a 45 minute lunch break and ended up back home at 10:30. How does that math work? It was a looong bus ride -- during which we nearly splattered a police officer all over the road. It was dark, the officer had pulled a transport over and was in the middle of the lane walking to the cab and our bus driver JUST saw him in time and swerved to miss him. Scary stuff, my friends.

I'm in a great mood lately. I just am.

What a boring journal entry and if you didn't read it I don't blame you. I just thought that since I have a paid account I'd better update once in awhile.

Cheers!

P.S. Matt was smoking outside of our hotel when a man stood next to him and asked to see his cigarettes. Matt reluctantly handed the pack to him, and the guy retorted with "You just got mugged! Walk away!" Haha, oh I wish I were there.
