Pawned.

Sheila and I went to a new pawn shop the other day just to have a look around. It's not really new, only we didn't know about it so it's like it never existed. . . Anyways, everything was outrageously priced (ie: $4.99 for cassettes, $5.99 for VHS movies) but that didn't stop me from buying said items. Sheila was looking through the CD's, so I decided to look at the cassettes first -- by the way, Michael Bolton is the King of Pawn Shop Cassettes. Nearly every single pile of tapes had at least one Michael Bolton. I managed to find the Absolute Beginners soundtrack (which I didn't buy. . . maybe later for $4.99), David Bowie - Tonight (which Sheila had bought for me for 50 cents at another pawn shop) and David Bowie - Another Face

^-- I have never heard of this before, but it had a bunch of Bowie's Love You 'Til Tuesday music on it (but not all of it) so you better believe I paid $5 for it.

Then right after finding that I just happened to look over at the VHS's and saw Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence. It was also worth the $5.99 (plus tax). I had tried to watch it before, but Vannessa and I ended up making fun of everything in it. It's hard not to, but I'm going to watch it again soon. Plus, Bowie is just hot in it. Period.

Mm, yes very nice.

I also got Monty Python and the Holy Grail, as well as Monty Python's Life of Brian. I could have found either anywhere else on VHS (or even DVD) for cheaper than $5.99, most likely, but I'm an idiot.

Afterwards we went to the mall to buy new shoes (how girly does "going to the mall to buy shoes" sound?) and were planning on ONLY going to Payless, but somehow we found ourselves way on the other end of the mall at HMV, where I bought Pink Floyd's Piper at the Gates of Dawn, and Relics (RIP Syd Barrett). Also Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers Into the Great Wide Open and the David Bowie Platinum Collection (FINALLY!). That HMV haul alone cost $84, so I think I'm done with buying CD's until my next paycheque. . . which is Friday.

So I'm a Supervisor at DQ now, which I enjoy immensely because the worst part of the night was at the end when we had to clean all of the machines and everything else in the store. Now, come 10:15 I get to count tills. Which means? The rest of the employees get to do the grunt work as I sit on my butt and count money. Counting money is actually really relaxing, even if it's not mine and as long as we're not out over $10 on one of the tills. And if I don't feel like doing something? I just get others to do it for me. Though I'm too nice about letting people go home if they are sick, etc, so last shift we were short 2 people and we were there for 1.5 hours AFTER close cleaning up (and me counting money). I felt really bad, so I let the three workers who were left make a free Blizzard. Do I have the authority to offer free Blizzards to my co-workers? Nope. But I did it anyways.

This weekend me and Steph are going to Sheila's camp to have a chillaxingly wonderful time! I just have to get rid of my Saturday day shift, and Emma is the only one left who could possibly take it! As long as she doesn't leave for Saskatchewan before then. If she can't, then I'll see if the 7 - 10 call in will take it and then I'll only have to work 3 hours in the evening, which won't be as bad. I need the weekend off! Even my fortune cookie told me "A weekend away will help clear your mind."

I bought the wrong an ink cartridge for my printer today to finish invitatons. That'll have to wait. . . I also bought a wireless receiver for my computer at camp, because the people next door have wireless Internet and told us we could use it whenever we like. WOOT! I'll just install that puppy, and I'll have Internet again! I don't even consider the Internet at home being Internet, because it never works and thus I hate it. It's slower than dial-up, if it ever works. So yes, soon I will once again be an avid user of the Interweb!

I got the little plush Captain Jack from McD's today. When we went on the first day of Pirates' opening they only had the skull and some tiny kids bandana, so I didn't get anything. Sheila got the skull, which actually proved to be very entertaining. I plan on hanging Jack from my rear-view mirror on a little rope tied like a noose. Not that I want him to die, but it'll look better than just tieing him there in any conventional manner. He and Obi-Wan will become great friends!

More on Pirates later! I have seen it only twice so far, both on the first day, so I have to step it up a bit! Once I see it again I'll post my comments about it, because everything will be fresh in my mind. At the moment my mind is quite stale.

Off to work I go! To do such Supervisory things as drink Arctic Rushes and watch others do more work than myself.

Cheers!
