(no subject)

A wee update for those wanting to know what is happening in my (unexciting) life.

I spend a fair chunk of my time these days reading The Tawny Man trilogy by Robin Hobb. In fact, I have been spending far too much time reading it and not enough time doing productive things. Oh well.

For my subject called Law Reform & Community Development, one of my projects is to examine the merits of a program in which minors are provided with a support person in police interviews. I'm quite excited.

As always, my quest for self-improvement involves me vowing to (1) eat less junk food, (2) exercise more, (3) get legal experience and/or another volunteering opportunity and (4) get marks to be proud of in law. Thus far I have only made any progress on item #1. But the semester is young and the boyfriend is going to Europe, so I daresay I will have plenty of time to make some headway on the other items. Also I would like to be more confident and speak more articulately, but I fear I may be doomed to always be a Mumbling Idiot. (Goodbye grand dreams of being a barrister...)

(Btw: sorry if I have an overly formal or archaic way of writing, it happens when you read the flowery and complicated language in law cases. I have to stop myself constantly from saying 'purport to' because I don't think lay people use it!)

I also spend some time every day watching The Wire with Zack. Soooooooo good. If you're into cop shows, watch it! It's pretty coarse and unlike other cop shows, doesn't present the cops as always the good guys and the upstanding, faultless citizens. There was one scene that went for a few minutes and I kid you not, 90% of the dialogue in that scene was just the word 'fuck', haha. I find it funny that I need Zack to interpret the ebonics on the show, I just cannot understand it!

The music I have been obsessed with lately includes: Nat King Cole, Death Cab for Cutie (indie), classical piano,  Al Green (soul), a couple of French R&B songs and even Taylor Swift... the country singer. Ha!

Ok I ended up rambling for longer than I thought I would. Enjoy your weekend, chickens!
