I asked, rhetorically, "How did A-Rod and Jeter end up with mirror injuries?" and the Penguin answered with some of the dialog below, which I fleshed out a little. ~130 words, R-ish.
Alex had been flipping through Cynthia's Cosmos again, always a bad plan.
"See, it's called the 'inverted X,'" explained Alex. "I put my leg here, and you put yours there and . . ."
"Ow, I think I pulled something," said Derek after doing as directed. "Let's switch."
Alex frowned as he tried to get into position.
"Not as easy as it looks, huh?" Derek asked.
"I think I pulled something too."
"I don't think that one's gonna work."
Alex got up and stretched his quad. "What are we going to tell Joe?"
"I'm sure it's not that bad." Derek massaged his. It didn't feel like it was going to be a problem, but when Alex looked at him worriedly, he grimaced for effect.
Alex got the message. "Stupid Cosmo." He straddled Derek's leg and worked his thumbs into the muscle.
Derek grinned. Alex had amazing hands. "Yeah. Cosmo. That was definitely the problem here." Then he yelped when Alex dug into a sensitive spot. "What was that for?"
"I was just trying to liven things up. I don't see--"
Alex fell off the bed during the ensuing tickle fight and pulled Derek down on top of him. That could have been what made Derek's leg stiffen up as he ran toward first the next day, but it was much more fun to blame the magazine.
