Maiden voyage

We did indeed go kayaking today, at a small lake just down the road a bit. I got pictures of Casey as she headed off on our adventure. Unfortunately, I don't have the capacity on my computer yet to download them (or upload them - or whatever it is you do with them). We got carriers for the top of the Jeep today. It's a very tall vehicle. We need to use a step stool in order to load and unload the kayaks. After we got them loaded, we thought that was quite enough exercise!

Casey took off quickly after we arrived. I hung back and watched her go to get pictures. We went in separate directions, each exploring different things. There are many snapping turtles around the lake. I was getting a kick out of them surfacing, taking a look around, then disappearing again. Over in one little cove, I glided in quietly and saw a beaver. That was so cool! It climbed up on the bank and groomed for a while, then swam over to something else and hung out, eventually eating a bit. It kept getting closer and closer to the kayak. I was so intent on watching it, I didn't notice the one that came up on the other side of the boat, just a little behind me. It made a big splash as it dove under the surface - and surprised me. What a wonderful day!

All that physical activity was good for me. I am RELAXED! That's something that seldom happens. I'm starting to stiffen up again, but after pushing like that, I was fairly limber (for me) for a while. It felt wonderful! I'm looking forward to doing a lot more of this, getting in better condition and feeling so much more energetic on a regular basis. Besides, the "tired" from physical exertion is so much better than the exhaustion from studying!

Tomorrow is my Biology final from 10:30-12:30. When I'm back home from that, we're planning to take off for another adventure.
