I think there's something wrong with the layout, it's making the icons smaller than they really are. Maybe you could turn off custom comment pages? :)

Are you referring to the icons in the post or in the comment section?

The icons in the post are the original size they only look smaller (idk why that is). And I don't want to touch any of the settings both on LJ or in the CSS code because I suck at html so if anything goes wrong I'd have no idea how to restore it back to the original settings.

Yesh, I know. But if you go to Journal style >> customize your theme >> scroll down to find "Disable customized comment pages for your journal" and pick yes, it goes to the LJ default when opening entries to comment (which I know most people prefer), and you can just pick no again if you want it to go back to how it was before.
But of course, it's your comm, so do what you want. :)
