Today they started to tear down Randall Park Mall. It was 38 years old. I remember fondly my parents taking me to see Star Wars. I remember waiting in a long line that stretched out of the theater and down the ramp. At one time it was the largest mall in the world. I used to look forward to going there to my favorite stores, but I'd go to the video game arcade and now I just play at home. I used to go and look at and buy magazines. That was back when I was still in pro wrestling and I would look at the 3 or 4 or so mags and decide which to buy. I used to get corndogs there, and chocolate chip cookies.
I went this afternoon to take pics of where they've started to tear it down. I had to drive around the mall twice to find out where they started to tear it down. They started on the Warrensville Center Road side, across from the Conrad's Tire place and the storage place, right next to the Sports Institute place. There were about a dozen people watching, in cars or standing outside (and boy was it cold!). I took a ton of pics from different angles in both black and white. Very sad. I think I'll try to stop by every couple days or at least once a week and take some more pics.
