He fought at the bonds in desperation. The metal bit into his wrists and neck, blood trickled down his arms, but he paid no attention to the pain. He only thought of freedom, and maybe the blood would let the metal slip off. It was surely only a matter of time before rescue came, but he wasn't the type of person to wait like a bashful maiden for her white knight. He surged against his restraints once more.
