happy valentine's day! even when without a SO, i've absolutely loved valentine's day. :) there's just something about red, pink, candy, and flowers that bring me the happy.
every year, i try and observe lent in some way, shape, or form. this year i'm going to really focus on reflection and peace - and to ease the peace along, i'm going to "give up" anger. it's amazing how many different ways anger can manifest and none of them bring goodness to anyone.
so...peace be with you, bitches. =D

we ended up getting the hutch i was looking at on FB marketplace. it was an adventure getting to the pick up location and at one point, google maps had us turn into an empty field. i was reminded of that michael scott driving into the lake scene from the office. =D anyway, we eventually got to where we were supposed to be and it's a nice enough hutch and will be OK for now as is...come warmer weather, i'm going to change out the hardware and maybe paint it. it's not vintage or fancy enough to worry about messing up its patina - i'm thinking it's anywhere from the 50s to the 70s in construction, but i know so little about furniture that it's difficult for me to really formulate an estimate.
while it's not sloppily made, it seems to be a mass manufactured piece, and the wood seems a bit thin - i would not call it SUPER solid. then again, like i said, i know dick-all about furniture.
i DO know that there's a nice hutch made by local amish folks for $1999 that i would definitely not mind having. me: "it's an heirloom piece!" mister: "shush."
hopefully i can get new-to-me hutch wiped down and give it a once over with the "no bad juju in my house" magic (srsly, one of my fears has always been getting a haunted piece of furniture. i mean in THEORY that would be cool, but in practice? nope.) today and get it inside so i can begin my CURATED SHELVING COLLECTION or whatever it is i called it.
it's gonna be so cute i won't be able to stand it, probably.
or i might hate it. who knows?

tomorrow kid and i are going to go on a wander to ashland (like anyone knows where that is) and do some thrifting and some shopping (walmart, ugh; grocery, yay!). we both could use a get out of the house for fun day and there you go.
she wrote me the sweetest valentine's day note and i may buy her an ice cream because of it.
"I appreciate the things you do for me and I definitely don't say it enough. Thank you for being an amazing mother, friend, and teacher."
and she calls me her best friend. awwwww. heart swell.

yesterday was my first time trying kefir (no idea why i haven't had it before) and i loved it! it tasted like peaches and buttermilk, which sounds horrible but wasn't. then again, i love buttermilk, so yeah.
i also bought a jacket 2 sizes too small for me because i have confidence in myself! the only reason i got it is because a) it's an equestrian riding jacket and b) it was $3. oh, and i have confidence in myself!
and the third good thing about yesterday? i went rowing. i'm changing it from 10 mins daily to 1000m - it seems that's a good time/distance to work on form. i still got a bit of a workout but didn't overdo it.
[eta from out of nowhere: black liquid eyeliner is for the top lash line, not the bottom unless you are a drag queen OR it's nighttime OR you're going for the daytime rough-shod look OR you're 17 and can pull that shit off. and cheap liquid eyeliner? no. invest in yourself. i speak these words of truth from experience, yo.]
