'cause everbody's singing/ we just want to be heard

OK, I admit it: deeply religious people scare me. I'm mainly talking Christians here, but anyone who would judge me and, upon inevitably finding me lacking in moral fiber or some such, seriously believe that I am eternally damned to burn in the fires of hell makes me a little uncomfortable.

At work, we've been in communication with a woman who works with several Christian orgs in Haiti about starting a project there. While I don't doubt that this woman has done good through these organizations (one of which lists Jesus as the CEO - no joke), a little googling revealed she practically defines fundamental Christianity. How much do you suppose it would bother her to know that the e-mail she received today was transcribed by a HOMOSEXUAL and written by an ADULTERER? That our office is mainly staffed with LIBERALS who are PRO-CHOICE, PRO GAY MARRIAGE, ANTI-BUSH, and NOT RELIGIOUS. Snicker. She loves us only because she doesn't know us.

To combat this insanity, I recommend reading this: http://sfgate.com/columnists/morford/archive/
