Modern life has taught me many things. If one needs rain, simply wash the car, or water the lawn (we've all seen those sprinker systems that blithely continue to spit water into a typical Texas torrential downpour). Well, today I learned a new lesson...
The air-conditioning at my humble abode has been dead for what has seemed like a hellish eternity. You should try cooking in a kitchen that's already at 98'F, it's fuuuuuunnnnn... NOT!
This morning, after 2 days of banging, thumping & other odd noises drifting down from the air-con fixin' dude in the loft, I finally got it fixed. And, lo & behold, a thunderstorm rolls in & immediately drops the temperature by 15'F.
Yes, I do believe in an omnipotent deity. One who possesses an evil sense of humour.
Oh, the clincher? When I got home from work this evening... the air-con was dead again! >.<
However, there was a happy ending - after a few minutes of some most definately unPG-15 rated muttering & fiddling with fuses, the engineer in me kicked back in & I went up into the loft & started rooting about in the air-con unit cabinet myself. Pretty quickly, I discovered that the air-con fixin' dude hadn't put the casing back on properly & an access panel had vibrated loose & that had tripped a safety switch. A couple of minor bodgings later & the Limeybrit got to savour chilled air, once more. ^____________^
One last thing - blame an odd little conversation with Babyzerochicka for the title & the new LJ icon...
