I hate looking for jobs. Just when things *seem* to be on an upswing, i get screwed. Sent out a bunch of resumes the other night and a few more this morning, and recieved two calls back-one yesterday and one today. I'm thinking, "Score! Someone actually thinks i'm good enough!" So i call person #1. She's in a meeting. Does she have voicemail? No. I'm told to call back after 2. So i call back. She's unavailable, call back in a few minutes. I call back again. She's on the other line, call back in 15mins please. "Are you sure she doesn't have voicemail?" I call back in 15. She's 'unavailable' again. Sounds like i should be applying for her assistant's job.....total calls to this woman today. 5. Is voicemail not like, required to run a business these days? Whatever....
Person #2 calls when i'm downstairs putting laundry in. I call her back and she is pleased that i was so quick. "I really liked your resume, and you sound wonderful!" *insert usual questions, prior work etc* "So where do you live?"
"I live in the Beaches/East York area."
"Oh...wow....thats far..." she's silent.
"How far exactly?" I ask.
"Well we are out at Finch and Weston Rd."
Holy poo! But i tell her that travelling is not a problem for me. She insists that its too far and that if i have a friend that lives closer to their location to tell them to apply... What the fuck is that? If i have a friend that lives out there then OBVIOUSLY its not too far for me to travel. I mean, it is pretty far and it would take me a while to get there, but if the pay is good and its something Monday to Friday, no problem. She was so wierd about the distance thing. I don't get that.
All I want is a new job with decent pay and regular hours. Thats all. Fuckers.
