I like acrobatic shows

Sunday October 28 Today after church I decided to join the choir. They have practice every Sunday until Christmas. They're practicing Christmas songs a Capella. It's not what I expected. I expected to just sing Christmas songs right? Well it was more organized than that. It was harmonized. Most of them were older Filipina ladies. David, who was organizing everything decided to put me on tenor. why? umm I guess because they needed more people on tenor. I can't sing that high, I tried and it was hurting my throat and chest. The thing is the girl next to me sings very high and I have this tendency to try to sing high when someone else is singing high next to me. It's also hard to hear yourself sing when everyone else is singing a different note. The tenor part of course is different so David had to teach us the part. I don't even remember it anymore. I probably won't go back. I didn't like it very much.

Saturday November 3 Look at this its already my 3rd month in Taiwan and guess what? I'm still not used to the food. As I mentioned in my previous entry there isn't a lot of food choices. And I'm just tired of eating the same thing every week. There are like 4-5 places that we just alternate eating at each week. Anyway today Brent and I went to the Chiang Kai Shek Memorial Hall Today, well this weekend, they have the 2007 Open Air International Arts Festival. It's a huge open square surrounded by 3 buildings, the Chiang Kai Shek Memorial, the National Theater and the Concert Hall. A 5 arch gate lines the entrance to the area. There were several Arts and crafts booths selling all sorts of things from jewelry to metal sculptures like bugs made out of spoons to belly dancing like outfits. Then they had booths selling food. They had different shows throughout the day like magic and dancing and Kungfu. They also had this "Cirque Lili" show but you have to pay to see that and it was all sold out anyway. During lunch we sat around watching these kids practice dancing or form a pyramid like cheerleaders. Then we walked around a bit to check out the arts and crafts. Then we went looking for a place to eat around the area, which surprisingly we couldn't find anything. We walked all the way around the area then decided ok we'll just go to Taipei Main Station, 台北車站. We walked down one street and found Pizza Hut. Unfortunately, this time they didn't have as many choices to choose from. After dinner we headed back to the Chiang Kai Shek Memorial. The one show I really wanted to see is called "FLASH 2007." It's an acrobatic show. There was a show right before it so we couldn't find any seats so we stood. And me being short also couldn't see much of the stage. I saw some other people from the language center. They were the ones that actually told me about this festival. "FLASH 2007", from as much as I could see of it" was pretty cool. They had girls swing on a bar or hoop suspended from the ceiling. Then there was also dancing. And this guy who swung fire on loose strings so that he had to keep the momentum going or he'll lose control of wear the fire went. Then there was this guy who rolled around on a giant hoola hoop. I couldn't really see it very well, but there was this guy that had piles of bricks stacked on top of each other and then he would balance himself horizontally on top of them using just one hand. There was also these two girls who were suspended in the air on square shaped bar. And they would do different stunts like balance themselves upside down or while only one was holding on the other girl would be holing unto the first girl. They had some pretty cool stunts. I really enjoyed it.
