Tuesday October 2 Today I went back to Banqiao 板橋 to pick up my ARC. I wasn't feeling all that well, but I was tired of having had to wait another 2 weeks. And to make matters worse I get there and they tell me they don't have it yet. I start politely saying that I've already been here 3 times and waited 4 weeks how can it not be ready yet. She first gives me a number to call and I'm like I'm not coming back another time. And since I'm not feeling well I don't completely understand her but I keep prying until she finally tells me to go upstairs to the 3rd floor. So I go upstairs and get this. There are 4 other people there just sitting around the TV, some are sleeping. And nooone bothers to tell me what's going on. I think at least one of them actually works there but the other people were also waiting for something. So I just knock on one of the offices and again explain to them that I've already been there several times and that I really need my ARC card. So she tells me to wait. So I wait for 30 minutes. And finally they come out and give me my card. Geez. So stupid.
Saturday October 6 Typhoon #2 Another typhoon, Krosa, decided to hit Taiwan. And this one was really bad. However, it is on a Saturday so it just meant I couldn't go out. I slept in and then decided to go downstairs to the cafeteria next door to grab something to eat. It's covered so I didn't really have to go out in the rain and boy was it terrible. You could see the very strong winds and it was pouring rain. And yet I was surprised that some people still dared to go outside and/or drive. It was funny I saw some people I know from school there and they were soaking wet and I was just comfortably dry. Went to 7/11 to buy some foods just in case, news said the typhoon might last all weekend. After lunch just stayed in my room watching movies.
Sunday October 7 Guess what? It's weird. Today was completely bright and clear. Went to the Living Mall with Brent to watch Rush Hour 3. Movie debuts are weird and random here. Some movies come out soon after they appear in the US and some come out way after. Like Stardust, Marie Antoinette, and Hairspray The movie was funny in certain parts, but the story they chose seemed way to big to fit into such a short movie, which it was, very short. But I like watching Jackie Chan he's so funny. Then we went to eat at Pizza Hut again. You can't find good pizza often. Not that Pizza Hut in Asia is anything like that in the US. They have weird toppings on their pizza like kimchee and pepper beef topping.
Tuesday October 9 Nothing interesting happened today, but I want to mention this delicious restaurant that is on the bottom floor of Carrefour. There is an Italian restaurant, but like I mentioned before many places have meal deals. So this one is a bit expensive but so worth it and I guess price is worth everything you get. There are several different kinds, but the one for 2 people includes an appetizer, a soup, pizza or pasta, a drink, and a dessert each. There's also another one that includes all of that plus an alcoholic drink. And everything is delicious.
