So what method of procrastination have I been partaking in this evening? Checking travel costs for a summer trip to Chicago with some girls from my geography department.
I really want to travel by train but Amtrack isnt exactly budget friendly.
From Jackson to Chicago, for 3 people, it would cost around $550 - 600. That is assuming the other two girls' ISIC cards are still valid and/or we purchase Student Advantage cards.
Driving seems to be the best bet, even with gas near $3. A round trip from Hattiesburg to Chicago is 1,660milesish. If we took my car (which I dont want to because I'll be turning 21!) which currently has a city/highway combo average mpg of 24, gas would cost about $207 for the round trip. This is much less than I thought it would be.
