...And a mixed day

Had time for a very few morning chores, one ordering the fresh Thanksgiving turkey from my favorite family-owned store with an excellent reputation for such things; the one I’d last ordered about 10 years ago (I hate cooking turkeys almost as much as beef) was good…

Taught my last in the homeschool series of yoga classes, a personalized session on wrists, fingers, and ankles for stability, and a few take-home hamstring lengtheners.  After the session a parent expressed disappointment at having missed the class, her husband there to watch the child, so we had a half-hour informal session.  She was so glad the yoga I teach is just the way she wants it, and is determined to arrange for me to teach her and her colleagues weekly; her husband has also practiced for years.

Stock-up run to the store, just enough time to cook and eat dinner before leaving for a parent’s planning meeting.  Opted for a dessert rather than salad, and despite being a vegetarian restaurant the raspberry-lemon-lavender pie was far too sweet, but two huge glasses of water and some of their excellent rye bread later all was well.

Leaving for the parking garage, still bemused by unusually lively animated discussion, I only noticed something subtly wrong with the car.  No other humans visible, only a few other cars on this level (chosen for convenient access to the elevator).  No surprises inside the car, so I quickly got in.  It responded oddly as I backed up, and curved oddly on the first turn, so I parked it and got out for a look.  New high quality tires regardless, one is flat.  Called my mate after due consideration; sure enough he wanted to change it himself (although it would be faster for me to do it)!  Half an hour later he arrived, promptly rejecting the emergency kit, briefly rounded me for driving on the flat in passing as he brought out his high-tech equipment.  He loosened the bolts as I jacked up the car, and installed the emergency tire as I examined the damaged one for the cause; a nail had pierced it.  Another chore tomorrow to add to the queue…
