With a tray in her hand Xiao Tan entered the bedroom of the 8th prince. He already looked a lot better. His paleness was nearly gone. Upon seeing her, he smiled tenderly and sat up from his bed. Cheng Cheng insisted on eating himself, after making sure that she’d eaten already. So she only blew his ginger soup until it cooled down and gave it to him.
Of course, different from her he drank his whole bowl without complaint or grimacing, much the prince he was. What was she complaining about? She wouldn’t ever want someone else but him. Her love for him was sometimes so overwhelming she wasn’t sure it was a dream or real. It wasn’t a lie when she told the old weirdo that she wouldn’t live on either if Cheng Cheng died. She couldn’t take her eyes off of him. It was as if her eyes needed to make sure that he was indeed sitting right next to her now.
Feeling her look on him he raised his brows and asked, "Hmm?"
Shaking her head, she took the empty soup bowl from him, giving him a bowl of porridge instead. She was glad that he was eating his meal. Usually, he was the one spoiling her. Xiao Tan smiled tenderly, while still watching him without blinking an eye.
Again he asked, "Hmm?" and again she shook her head.
"Tan’er, you can relax, I’m not going anywhere today," he grinned.
"I am!" she insisted.
"Sure! That’s why you are holding onto my sleeve," he replied.
"Oh! Did I?" looking down she realized that she really held his sleeve.
Taking his bowl and chopsticks in his left hand, he put his right hand on her cheek and caressed her face lovingly. Automatically, she nuzzled her face against his palm. Feeling his touch had become essential for her, especially after the last days. Then she realized that he was still eating. Quickly she asked him to finish his meal. They would have plenty of time afterwards. When he was done she called for Jing Xin to take the plate and asked for his tea.
"How are you feeling right now? Do you need something against the pain?" she asked him.
"No, I’m okay. Since Princess Consort is spoiling me my pain is all gone," he answered.
"Stop teasing me, 8th Prince!" she complained.
"I’m not! Your concern and care are the only medicine I need!" he insisted.
She wanted to answer when at that moment her maid brought his tea in. Standing up, she took it from her and told her that they didn’t want to be disturbed for tonight.
When Cheng Cheng put the teacup on his lips she carefully placed her right hand on his forehead to check his temperature. He was fine. His fever was gone. Satisfied her eyes shifted from his forehead and met his.
"Beloved is making me really happy right now!" he whispered.
"Why?" Xiao Tan wondered.
"Just because!" he responded, smiling his mysterious smile. She knew he wouldn’t give her an appropriate answer. Well, as long as she could make him happy she would be contented.
After he drank up his tea and she‘d put it on the tray, she asked him, "Are you tired? Do you want to lie down? Is there anything else you want me to do for you?”
Wrapping both arms around her he pulled her in a tight embrace, stating, "Now I have everything!"
Xiao Tan put her head carefully on his right shoulder. Closing her eyes she put both hands on his back, caressing him tenderly with her fingers.
After a minute of blissful silence she slowly sat up.
"You still need to recover, Prince, so you’d better lay down," she suggested.
"I will, if you lay down next me," he insisted.
Smiling shyly, she nodded. Why should she refuse if it was her biggest wish as well? The only thing she wanted to do right now was to feel him, be near him.
Placing her head on his right upper arm she put her right hand on his wound after both laid down.
"Does it still hurt very much?" she asked worriedly.
"No, it’s a lot better now. As I said your care is the best medicine," he smiled, putting a strand of her hair behind her ears, "As a warrior I’m also trained to endure pain."
"I don’t want you to feel pain," she disagreed.
"I can endure every kind of physical pain. The only kind of agony I couldn’t survive would be losing you or your love," he whispered.
Understanding him only too well, she snuggled as close as possible to him.
"Our Highness, would you do me a favor, if you are not too tired?" she then asked.
"Sure, tell me!" he agreed.
"Do you mind telling me a short story?" she requested.
"Do you want to hear a special one?" he wanted to know.
"No, just tell me your favorite story," she smiled.
"Oh, I have many since I love to read," he teased her.
"Then just tell me one today and the others on the following days," she suggested.
Closing her eyes she listened to his narration. Actually, he could have said anything and she would still be happy. All she wanted to do was listening to his warm voice, though she had to admit that he was especially eloquent. The way he told the story was so entertaining she had to laugh several times. After he was finished she thanked him.
"You are utmost welcome! It was my pleasure to share a story I like," he smiled.
Xiao Tan couldn’t tell why but suddenly her eyes were filled with tears. The thought that without the help of old weirdo she wouldn’t be able to be in his warm embrace and listen to his voice anymore somehow hit her hart. She tried to suppress her sobbing. However, as the attentive person that he was, he immediately felt her trembling.
"Tan’er, what happened? Why are you crying? Are you hurt somewhere?" he asked worriedly, while checking her face.
"It’s nothing," she assured him, smiling a trembling smile.
"Then why are you crying?" he wanted to know.
"I just realized that I nearly lost you," she admitted.
"Don’t cry. I don’t like seeing my Beloved cry," he said, while wiping her tears away, "I’m sorry, I made you worried."
"No, don’t say that. You rescued me. I love you!" she whispered.
"I love you more!" he responded. Putting a finger under her chin he lifted her face up. Slowly he neared her until their lips met. Xiao Tan was more than welcoming his touch. Since the moment he woke up she yearned for him. Being kissed by him felt so natural, so wonderful, she couldn’t get enough. Was it the feeling of nearly losing him? Definitely, somehow today everything felt even more exciting, sending thrills of ecstasy down her spine.
With a soft moan she opened her lips to welcome him. What did this man do to her? She didn’t even share a kiss with a man before meeting him. And now? One single kiss from him and she was awaiting him. Every pore of her body longed for him. He was the other half to make her whole. How could she ever live without this man? Sometimes she was still confused how her feelings could change that dramatically.
Since their bodies were as close as possible she could feel that he grew harder. Her own body was only too willing to take him in. She’d love to wrap her legs around his hips. Unconsciously, she wrapped both arms around his neck instead. This man was giving her heaven on earth. However, wasn’t he still too weak? Where did her brain go when she needed it?
When he let go of her lips, Xiao Tan took the chance to take a deep breath to regain her sanity.
"Prince! We can’t!" she tried stopping him.
"Why? Are you not ready yet?" he wanted to know.
"No, no! That’s not it! Prince, you just regained your consciousness! Your body ist still too weak. We can’t exhaust you," she urged him.
"Loving you is giving me strength not weakening me!" he smiled.
Letting him go she rolled on her back. She pressed her lips and eyes tightly together and shook her head. Maybe not seeing him made it easier for her to resist him, repeating, "we can’t!"
Cheng Cheng looked down at his wife who was obviously fighting with her conscience. Her facial expression was so cute he had to grin. If he wouldn’t love her to the max already, he’d swear his love just grew a little more. How would he ever be able to live without her again? She was his reason to live.
Would she be able to resist him? He couldn’t resist trying it out. No, he couldn’t resist her! So he whispered in her ear, „You don’t have to but I will!“ Slowly he started pecking her nose, each closed eyes, her forehead and cheek. Meanwhile, Xiao Tan tried dodging his touches, making it even more exciting for him. Keeping hold of her head, he lastly went with his own lips along her lips, barely touching it. All the time Xiao Tan still had her eyes shut. He smiled inwardly when he noticed that her breath got faster. His Princess Consort was just irresistible and seducing her was even more irresistible! Though he couldn’t tell who was seducing whom. Her mere existence was seducing him. Every time he looked at her he just wanted to kiss her.
He knew she was holding back because of him. The thoughtfulness proved him once more that her love was real. He could never cherish her love enough. With her love came happiness in his life. She made him smile and laugh, she was all he needed.
"Tan’er, thank you for coming into my life", he said, while caressing her cheek with his fingers.
"Prince, you are unfair!" she complained.
"Why? Did I say something wrong?" he wondered.
"I might be able to resist your hotness but not your sincerity!" she explained. With these words she turned to him and wrapped both arms tightly around him. Cheng Cheng smiled happily, hugging her back.
"What if this sincerity is part of my hotness and my way to seduce you?" he challenged her.
"Then it’s a …’no-go’!" she said the last two words in English.
"Hmm? A... what? I don’t think I know the word you just used," he wondered.
"Oh, right! I mean it’s something you can’t do! Nobody would be able to resist it, least me!" she explained. Automatically she gave him a peck.
"Then don’t!" he insisted.
"Look, Prince! We talked so much, you must be tired by now. I’m tired, too. Let’s both close our eyes and sleep," she tried persuading him. Nodding he agreed. Did she really win? Quickly she closed her eyes and turned back to her side of the bed. Xiao Tan didn’t realized that he gave in because she said she was tired. She would always come first.
However, instead of falling asleep she felt more awake than ever before. Since she’d put her right hand on his chest she could feel his heartbeat. It was comforting but somehow at the same time exciting. With every passing second it got more and more exciting. It made her sensible what a handsome and sexy man was laying right next to her. And the most amazing fact about it was that the man was hers! She didn’t know what she made right, but this fascinating man loved her.
The prince turned to her. He wrapped his left arm around her and pulled her closer. She was more than willing to cuddle up to him. Suddenly she was also aware of his gentle breathing. Once a while it brushed her forehead. Why did it feel like being kissed by him? She must be crazy! She gulped. All the time she was persuading him to sleep and now that he was doing it she was having wrong thoughts! Why was she like this?!?
Unconsciously, her right hand started drawing small circles on his chest. Moving a little away from him she went from his chest over to his shoulders and down his left upper arm. There she stroked him. With closed eyes she smiled happily. It just felt so right. She didn’t perceive the man who was looking down at her the moment her hand started moving, forgetting the trained warrior he was.
Cheng Cheng was wondering if she was asleep or not. He did not sleep even for a second. Her hand moved upwards towards his neck. His heart started to beat faster again. He was glad that her hand was not on his chest anymore or she would know immediately that he was not sleeping. Instead, he enjoyed every move she made. Her fingers arrived at his neck and like butterflies her fingers touched him. The 8th prince bit his lips to withstand the urge to kiss her; afraid she would stop her caressing. He was just wondering how long he would be able to endure this sweet torture. His whole body was hard as a rock again. His longing for her grew with every minute. He knew this condition wouldn't change until they were one.
At the same, Xiao Tan time realized what she was doing. Quickly she wanted to pull back her hand. However, right then the Prince kept hold of it. Startled she automatically opened her eyes only to see him looking at her.
"Our Highness, I-…" was all she was able to say before Cheng Cheng put his lips on hers. Unable to resist him she moaned, deepening his kiss, admitting defeat at the same time. Admitting that she needed him too much to say no again. Still, she tried to stop him one last time, asking "Are you really sure?" after he let go of her lips and moved on to her throat. Looking up, he urged, "Yes, very sure! Didn't I say you are my medicine? Let me in. Let us be one, that's all I need right now!" With these words he opened the collar of her top more and placed a kiss on her palpitating heart. Opening her top with his fingers his lips moved downwards.
"Cheng Cheng- ..." she uttered before her thoughts ended in nothing, being overtaken by sensational feelings.
