Okay so I honestly just discovered the cultverse today because, hey, it's more of a FOB-centric thing and I'm more of a Panic-centric, Pete-Wentz-fearing girl, but God did I ever fall in love with it fast!

This fic... I love how Spencer's content with waiting, he just trusts Ryan that much that he'll wait to hear the answers in Ryan's time. Spencer's devoted; so ripe for the message. And of course I love how Brendon's totally in love with Ryan, how what matters most to him is Ryan, pleasing Ryan, having Ryan - so much so that he doesn't even want the marks to be washed away. And Ryan loves him right back. I mean, it looks a little callous from the outside, how he so willingly give Brendon over to Pete, binds him down, lets him be broken, but that's just proof of the depth of Ryan's love. Ryan wants what's best for Brendon, even if it hurts. Brendon needed to be saved, and Ryan couldn't so. And I can't even describe to you how much I loved the baptism in dirty bath water. It's so apt. The perfect conclusion.

Brendon was always going to be a tough sell - because of the Mormonism, whether you see it from the perspective that at this point Brendon still believes, or whether he's broken himself of it and is less vulnerable now even though he reverts in his desperation. And Brent... I love the way he keeps getting dragged into the 'verse. Because Brent is the opposite. Brent's a wall. Brent's too thick to get it, to understand the message. He tries, he knows there's something he should be getting, but he can't and it just doesn't take. He can't make sense of it. And God, Brent's their friend. Yeah, he's not the best bass player in the world, but he's their friend and if only he wasn't so goddamn impenetrable maybe they'd have been able to keep him. Because you know they tried.

And goddammit. I really want cultverse Brent!fic to be written. Can't we hurry it up a tad, gals? (Cuz I'm totally not doing it. Nuh uh. I'd totally fuck it up and then where would we be?)

And to think mere hours ago, as I was trying to sell the cultverse to a few of my friends, I was bemoaning the lack of genuine Panic-centric fic. How you do just read minds like that? Ily so hard.

Man, this was a wonderful comment! Thank you so much!!

There's so much that Ryan wants for Brendon -- he wants Brendon to believe, he wants Brendon to be saved, he wants Brendon to understand the importance of the message but most of all he wants Brendon to be a part of it; to move beyond into something bigger, to use his voice to help save the masses. It's beautiful in an extremely twisted sort of way ;)

Anyway! Yeah, more P!ATD cultfic. I'm workin' on that :)
