I was gutted when this series ended, I always am. Just when you wonder whether the new series can be as good as previous ones it always manages to exceed expectations. It's utterly brilliant and I often forget to breathe when it's on, such is the tension (or is that just Richard Armitage, *cough* where was I?). I was shocked by the departure of Adam and hadn't seen that coming (even though the body count in this program is always high) - it's poor little Wes I feel sorry for - now orphaned as his Mum carked it in a previous series.
Still, Adam's replacement - the darkly delightful Lucas North (Armitage) is very pleasing on the eye. He's just spent 8 years in a Russian prison and initially you are left wondering whether he is in fact a double agent. Lucas's story strongly reminded me of elements of 'Eastern Promises' and I couldn't believe my ears in the final episode when several references to The Sisterhood's 'Gift' album were made - i.e. Rain from Heaven, Finland Red, Eygpt White and the number sequence 2500025!! I immediately had to get it out and have a listen (forgot how good it is, underrated album IMO). Obviously there's some old goth on the script writing team :)
