Ice, Roses & A Ring

Feb 16, 2007 00:12

Damn, it's an ice disaster outside. I just felt like stating the obvious. Yesterday, when Monk woke me up and the freezing rain still had not stopped, I didn't want to chance going out on the roads. Especially when I saw all the accidents on the news that had already happened by 7:00 am. We were up crazy late the night before anyway, so being able to sleep late was wonderful.

Monk surprised me with red roses that have other mauve colored flowers mixed in the middle. I have no clue what the mauve flowers are, but they are pretty! I was walking into the kitchen babbling about something and there they were... roses just sitting on the counter. I was a bit confused for a few seconds ;) As I was giving Monk hugs and thanking him, I realized I don't have any vases. I used to have tons, but I got rid of them when I moved a while back. A friend of mine showed me how to preserve roses with alcohol a while back, but I can't remember exactly how?? I'll Probably just keep the petals in a new glass vase after they dry up, like I used to do. I don't like throwing flowers away when they die. I think it's a shame to just get rid of them after only having them a for a couple weeks.

Monk's ring couldn't have come back from being sized at a better time. Nicole was nice enough to get it done for us for free at the jewelry store she works in. She even dropped it off on Tuesday. He really likes it and it looks SO nice on him.

I have a lot to write about, but it's getting late.

Thanks for the nudge wookiemonster!!!
