You know what really pisses me off? People who say that if you don't love America, then you should just leave. Fuck you! Wouldn't Bush and his cronies love it if everyone thought like that? Then they could have even more free rein to do whatever the fuck they want too!! It's probably because of people and attitudes like that that let them get

The Founding Fathers knew the only guard against tyranny is refusal by the people to go along with it. They weren't talking about vigilance against external threats, but the struggle for power internally that could lead to the erosion of rights and freedoms until they are all gone with no recourse but revolution.
The Taliban, btw, was busy ruling Afganistan. They simply were on good terms with bin Laden and his group Al-Queda, who are the ones who took the credit/blame for 9/11. Osama bin Laden is a member of the Saudi royal family, although, at least officially, they've disowned him. The Bush family is closely linked to the Saudi royals. A Bush family member owns the company in charge of security in the twin towers (and there were a couple of blackouts and a 'search' in a couple of weeks running up to the event). The military was running several different simulation games on 9/11, which was why it was so hard to get tracking on the real planes. The plane that hit the Pentagon hit a section being remodeled, and only 2 people were hurt there. Bush was warned it was coming and ignored it. It was planned, all right. How many "coincidences" does it take to make a murder case out of circumstantial evidence? But without something more solid, it's so very hard to get people to listen, because it is terrifying to deal with the knowledge we have a president who participated, however subtly, on an attack on the US.
The people who criticize the government are better patriots than sheep-like followers ready to sell out our system for fascism. We criticize because we want America to be better-- that is love.

It is terrifying to think that Bush went that far for power. Sometimes I wonder if ruining the economy is part of his "master plan." That's one way Hitler gained power, the German economy was in absolute ruins. I hope I'm wrong but even if I'm right I would hope the American people wouldn't accept him after all he's put us through. Actually I think there would be total rebellion if he actually tried to take over since everyone is fed up with him and just waiting till he gets out of office. I do hope he pays for his crimes though, through karma or through justice.

AFAIK, the economy problems have been building a long time. Of course, war spending has made it vastly worse, because the whole country is in massive debt and can't afford much in the way of remedy, but the outsourcing of jobs to other countries is probaby the deepest root to the problem. If I was president, I would make an "foreign employee tax" for American companies. It would probably be a flexible thing, because, if they are in another country to make things to be used *there* we don't want to be punitive, but if they are firing US employees to hire in a sweatshop to make imports to t he US, the tax should make them think twice.
