I've seen the similarity between Ginny and Lily, too, and wrote a couple of fics where Snape found it a little disquieting (in the sense of not wanting to develop feelings for a student).
Also, then Zach becomes kind of the Snape of his generation, always crushing on Ginny who never considers him as a love interest at all. Although, unlike Lily, not at all nice to her admirer. Which creates a weird parallel between generations if Zach is related to Snape...
And as for James, my take on things is that Lily only fell in love with him because he stole Snape's Potions book. After all, we know Snape improved on every potion in there-- he would have beefed up the love potion. But Snape never made use of it, just did it for theory. James, otoh, makes the Potion according to the recipe changes and doses Lily, who falls in love with him permanently, thanks to the changes. And this would explain why Snape forbade the use of Love Potions at Hogwarts, but Slughorn allows it. Snape knows that it can be as bad as the Imperius curse for taking away free will.
