Series Introduction: Primeval AU where the characters run a home for abused men and boys. Sorry no dinosaurs unless they go to the museum or something.
Nick was going over some paper work when the call came through. Mercy General had a kid admitted after being hit with a golf club by his father. Even five years after James and him had started the home he still couldn't believe what some fathers were capable of. How a man could abuse his children so badly was a mystery to him.
Nick called Connor into his office and told him about the new boy. He always sent Connor to bring in the young ones. Boys trusted someone close to their own age more then they would trust someone close to their fathers age.
He also alerted the Doc and Abby to expect a new patient. Kevin was a great physician and a kind man. The kids always felt safe with him. Abby was a trained psychologist so she could help the kids adjust to a new life and help them get over their old one and she did a great job of it too.
Once he took care of the important things it was time to tell every one else. First Ryan had to me put on alert just in case the father wanted to finish the job. Stephen needed to be told so he can figure out where to put the boy and then he had to tell Jenny so she could get the legal ball rolling.
Lastly he went to see James to tell him they had another mouth to feed. James may complain about the extra expense but Nick knew he would be the first one to make the kid feel welcomed. After that he would turn back into his snarky self and yet the kids still liked him.
After all that he told the kids that they had a new charge. He won't meet the new kid for at least another week they had a no crowding policy. No adults near the kids till absolutley necessary. It gave them time to adjust and feel safe. Finally he could go back to his paperwork.
