Back on the wagon.

So, due to much coaxing and cajoling from my dear friends, I've decided to join the livejournal revival crusade. um...yeah. What to say. I suppose I should start with today. I finished my zine/finals! Very exciting for me, i must say. uh...jeez, i feel sort of asinine delving into all the nuances of my day, so i'd like to take this opportunity to talk about something interesting.
the strike in Chicago. For those of you who don't know, 300 workers at a window plant in Chicago were laid of, so 250 of those workers decided to rise against being laid off and occupy the factory where they once worked. They've been there for a couple of weeks now, and say they won't be leaving until they get their 60 days notice, vacation pay, and severance package. I feel proud when I hear about these people who fight for what they believe in, contributing to the rich labor tradition of yesterday, but also to social change for today.
The riots in Greece, along with the general strike called against the government for the brutality of its law enforcement arm. These are examples of change, of the collective groaning of the working class, rising against the chains of an unsuccessful, not sustainable capitalism and centralized oppressive police state government. crazy times, homies.
Very exciting times, dudes.
