Self-care and health care

So, I've been doing a lot of walking lately, about 5 miles a day, but I haven't been doing the stretching or resistance training I need to be doing to actually feel better in my body. Likewise any truly strenuous aerobic activity of the sort that will get my heart rate up where it should be.

Also, since D broke his ankle, we've been backsliding into some bad habits that include comforting ourselves with ice cream and other less than healthy foods.

So, today, I decided to get back into the swing of it. I did one circuit of my usual stretching routine (with double stretches for my psoas, IT bands, and glutes since my right hip has been screaming at me to take better care of it and lose a few pounds for the last week or so.

I also went to the store after I'd eaten lunch and came home with four bags full of good-for-us food to cook this week. Now All I have to do is follow through with portion control and resist the temptation to go out for dinner if I get home from work feeling tired.

Also, it's been a week now that I've been using my sunrise simulator alarm clock, and I do believe it's made a big difference in how I feel in the mornings. Way less cranky and stabby.

Anyway, I'm going to try to be more deliberate about food and exercise and hold myself accountable here for reporting on my progress.
