So my dad and I spent pretty much the entire day searching for a car for me, and we finally found one.
First, dad made me test-drive a Kia Rio....which I didn't really like. The damn seat was set too low, and I could barely see over the steering wheel, and since the seat couldn't adjust up, and the wheel didn't tilt. Plus the car had no balls..I had to floor it for it to accelerate decently. So yeah....that was a no go with me.
Next we test-drove a Mazda 626, which was actually pretty nice...til I kinda gunned it and the car started to shake a little at around 50/60. So we're pretty sure that was in an accident, so dad said no right away.
We ended up buying the 3rd car we test-drove, which was a white 1998 Toyota Corolla. It's in really good shape and has under 100k miles (which is hard to find in an older Toyota in the price range we were looking). Only drawback is the inside is kinda in bad shape, but hey I'm not too picky since the car drives fine. The inside reeks like smoke (obviously the owner before me was a smoker), but I can fix that easily (and i def. plan on doing so, ASAP). Until I find enough time to take it to get professionally cleaned I'm gonna use temporary solutions (i.e. charcoal or baking soda...but not vinegar, since I can't stand the smell...). The important thing is, I have a car now. I can get myself to and from places, I can go where ever, whenever I want, and this means I can be a bit more social in the fall. Woohoo :)
