Here's hoping that doing this meme inspires me to start working on something. Leaving out fics that I haven't finished since the last time I posted WIPs. ::hangs head:: Encouragement, suggestions, and advice are most welcome.
1. Rocky/Adam - rough draft finished, but...it's pretty crack-y.
Adam burst out laughing. “You thought I turned into a cat?” he asked incredulously.
Rocky backed away from the chuckling man and folded his arms defensively. “It’s not that strange!” he protested. “Kat was a cat. And just last week we were all turned into bricks. These things happen when you’re a ranger.”
2. Jack/Sky - actually, this is mostly finished too. But it ends abruptly and I'm not sure how to fix it.
Before Jack could do anything more than drop his hand back to his side, the blond woman turned away from the photos, Jack noted that she’d been looking at a recent team shot of B-Squad, and advanced toward them. She ignored the quiet bustle around her in favor of searching her son’s face. She glanced at Jack, took in the red on his uniform and subtlety flinched. Jack felt unreasonably guilty (and vaguely irritated) for being a reminder of her dead husband.
“Sky,” the woman said. Her voice was soft and warm, as if she was talking to an animal that might dart away if startled. Jack knew the feeling.
3. Jack/Daniel - A first kiss fic that hasn't yet decided if it's a ficlet or the beginning of something more.
The staccato beat being played on his front door forced Daniel from sleep. Blearily, he made his way toward the offending sound, too busy trying to stay upright to be truly worried about the identity of his visitor. If it was an emergency, someone would have called him first. He pulled the door open and found himself enfolded in a familiar embrace.
“Jack?”
The only answer he received from the bundle in his arms was a choked, broken noise that sounded like heartbreak. But this was Jack. Jack, who had been deliriously happy only hours before when he’d returned from Apophis’s doomed ship to find Daniel alive. Jack, who’d been laughing and joking when they’d parted ways at the Mountain.
4. Jack/Daniel - an offworld, first time fic
“Jack.” The small increase in volume roused Jack more fully into the waking world, but there was no panic or urgency in Daniel’s tone, so he remained quiet, wondering if Daniel was trying to wake him or if he was checking to see how deeply asleep he was.
The answer to that question became even more important when Daniel scooted in even closer, not stopping until Jack could feel every hard line and sharp angle of Daniel’s body pressed tightly against his own, sending any chance of Jack falling back to sleep right out the window - or tent flap as it were.
5. John character study, gen fic
John’s love of flight was born at the age of four on the slightly run-down, much loved playground his nanny favored more for the abundance of cute senior boys watching younger siblings than the quality of the equipment.
In retrospect, John suspected that his father knew nothing about the fact that his heir apparent was hanging out on rusty slides and rickety monkey bars instead of the custom made jungle gym tucked away on a discrete corner of their property. John loved his flirty nanny more than a little for that.
So, anything in particular you feel I should devote my time to this weekend? Something to add to my WIPs? Inspire me! ♥
