I signed up for sga_santa, but I haven't written since - idk - March? I'm hoping thinking about this will get the creative juices flowing.

pretending to be married
"I'm sorry," Tiana said, sounding truly apologetic but firm, "this is our most sacred site."
Of course it was, John thought with an internal sigh as Rodney's face fell, they always were. Hopefully the 'cleansing ritual' or 'proving task' wouldn't be too painful and McKay could still get his hands on whatever was making his equipment light up like Christmas in Rockefeller Center.
"No," Teyla cut in, smoothly stepping in front of Rodney, whose face was beginning to turn red, "it is we that should apologize. We should not have wondered away without a guide. Perhaps you could tell us more about this structure?"
Tiana visibly relaxed as it became apparent that the Atlanteans weren't going to violate the sanctity of the site. "It is the home of Heno, the goddess of love and life. Only mated and bonded pairs can enter to seek her good will and blessings."
"Oh," Rodney scoffed, inching closer to the temple without seeming to notice he was doing so, "you mean married. Only married couples can enter. That's..."
"No problem," John interrupted before Rodney could mortally offend someone. He opened his mouth again to say they would just have to return to Atlantis and send a couple. There were more than a few to chose from with the right qualifications - Simpson and West, Moon and Smith. But something about the longing and dejection on Rodney's face changed his mind mid-stream. "Because Dr. McKay and I are married."
