Games2011 ♥ Announcement of winner(s)!

Jul 01, 2011 20:15

Hello all!

It's that time we've all been waiting for... the announcement of the winner of the Lily/James Games 2011!

First - we'd like to give away some individual prizes to team members who have shown awesome team spirit during these Games!

The Patronus Prize goes to participants who submitted drabbles for all four Expecto Patronum Bonus Rounds! This year, there are two winners of the Patronus Prize:

Congratulations, firstbreaths (Team Doe) & zia_montrose (Team Stag)!

The next award is the Marauders Map Medal for Team Spirit, and is awarded to all team members who reviewed every single submission (except their own) in the Lily/James Games 2011.

We're proud to announce that firstbreaths from Team Doe, as well as eprime and liebedance from Team Stag are this year's winners of the Marauders' Map Medal!

And now, on to the main part of this post: announcing the Winner of the Lily/James Games 2011!

Points have been calculated in four different components:
  1. Expecto Patronus Bonus Round: Over the course of two months, we held four EP Bonus Rounds, with each drabble submitted by team members worth 0.5 points. Team Stag submitted 18 drabbles altogether (9 points) and Team Doe submitted 14 (7 points).

  2. Review Bonus: Team Stag made ~96 reviews for Lily/James Games 2011 fics & art! Team Doe made ~64 reviews. Therefore, Team Stag wins the +5 points Review Bonus (but everyone wins because who doesn't love getting comments on their works? :D)

  3. Reserve Writer Bonus: When a main team member drops out, a Reserve Writer is then "activated" to replace a Main Team Member. However, if there are no drop-outs, the Reserve Submissions will gain their Team 3 bonus points each!
This year, Team Stag had one Main Writer drop-out, thus activating one Reserve Writer. As the other Reserve was not activated, they have gained Team Stag 3 extra points! :D
Team Doe had two Main Writers and one Reserve Writer drop-out. The other Reserve was activated to replace one of the main Writers... which, unfortunately, leaves Doe with no Reserve submissions qualifying for the Bonus. Furthermore, Team Doe is at a one Main Team submission disadvantage compared to Team Stag. This will be important later on...

  4. Late Submission Penalty: Team Stag incurred a 3 point penalty for Late Submissions, and Team Doe incurred a 5 point penalty.

  5. Voting Component: Remember those polls at the end of each submission? That's where this component kicks in! We averaged the scores (for enjoyment + prompt utilisation) out of for all Main Team Writers and Artists, as scores out of 10. Team scores were then totaled up. As noted before, Team Doe was at a disadvantage due to having one less Main Team submission compared to Team Stag. This amounts to an estimated 8 point disadvantage for Team Doe.

  6. Everything was tabulated as below:

    Congratulations, Team Stag! :D!
(If any of you would prefer a small banner to post on your journals or wherever, we have prepared this alternate one just for you!)

Congratulations also to Team Doe, our Runner-Up!

The mods would like to take a moment to thank all the writers and artists who submitted their works for the Games, as well as to everyone who took the time to read & review the submissions! The point of the Games was to create more Lily/James works, and to support fellow Lily/James fans, and it would not have been possible without your support.

We would also like to emphasis that as far as story/art quality goes, both Teams were very evenly rated! In fact, the average score per story was 8 out of 10, based on prompt utilisation and enjoyment. We'd say that this is not shabby at all. :)

We'll be posting up a complete masterlist for the main Fest after this post, and a masterlist for the EP rounds will follow, in a few days... along with a Feedback poll about how to proceed with lilyjames_fest for the future. We hope you'll take a moment to fill out the poll! In the meanwhile; thank you again for all your support.
