Summary: James carefully selects the perfect moment to propose to Lily. Really- very carefully. Lots of forethought. You know James.

*I know this is a sketch anyway, but I apologize for the scribbly hands and the laziness with the Death Eater. :|
*Mods: I hope the way I posted the image is alright!
*This picture is not direct fanart of the fic, but it is heavily inspired by gmariam's fic of the same name: Marry Me [4th fic down]. When I read her drabble of James proposing in the middle of battle, I thought it suited perfectly and have wanted to draw the basic situation ever since. The wedding invite prompt was my motivation to finally get the general idea down on paper. ;)

Thank you! :D I have to admit that the Death Eater was more fun to draw than he should have been, considering he took all of about thirty seconds. I enjoyed drawing his boots.

I secretly imagine that Snape wore similarly ugly 'wicked witch of the west' boots under his DE robes ahaha.

Oh wow, I can totally see something like that happening. They're in the middle of this epic fight and James just blurts it out, and Lily's like, "...Wait, what?"

The drawing is beautiful! James's vesty thing is win. :D

thank you! :D If this was more than a sketch I would have elaborated on the vest. I was trying to decide what I feel James would have worn in the war and... vest came to mind. Maybe an emerald green one. I'm still brainstorming on James' wardrobe, haha.

Oh, I do like this. It's quite good for a sketch, but I understand what you mean when you say you'll go into greater detail for the main entry. I actually think the Death Eater might be my favorite part though, lol. The proportions and the interlock of the pose are well done and I like James's glasses/hair. Same for Lily's torso. Looking forward to checking out your main entry!

Yeah I'm a REALLY messy sketch artist. I sketch to get ideas down, not necessarily to finish a pristine drawing so most of my sketches are actually naked (I rarely cloth people) and this sketch was no exception. I actually had to go back and give James and Lily clothes and it was ridiculous hard because I'm so out of practice. :| (I do this to get accurate body structure but of course it makes everyone look funny if I don't clothe them later on...)

Thanks for the compliments on the pose and Lily's torso! Usually people don't comment on things like that! I'm flattered. :) I'll try and read your fic tonight if I have time btw. ;) If I don't get to it today though I'll still read and comment when I'm able. :D

Sorry I haven't responded in a timely manner, but yes, this is perfectly acceptable for a drawble! I'm really excited to see some art in the EP rounds.

So I love the off-the-cuff marriage proposal--very James. But even more than that, I love your Death Eater, lol!

I love this! And as a sketch, it works tremendously well - I love the body language on James and Lily, how they've got their arms linked and seem to almost be having fun kicking butt together. And that Death Eater, OMG! Fantastic! 8D (I'm also in love with James's waistcoat, for some reason. XD) Thank you so much for sharing this!

Thank you for so many compliments! And it seems everyone loves James' waistcoat, so maybe I'll keep that in mind for his wardrobe on my finished illustration. ;)
